  I have such fond memories of listening to Paulette at Flesh at the iconic Hacienda and especially her soulful, intimate and steamy mid-week sets at the visionary Paradise Factory in Manchester. Paulette is intuitive and knows how to read a crowd and has the innate ability to create a vibe and ALWAYS fill a dance floor. This book is part memoir, part manifesto, part self-help, part gritty cultural and personal timeline and takes the reader on a journey from Paulette’s early days at the now legendary Number One club in Manchester to her rise as renowned, respected and highly regarded global DJ. This is essential reading for those not only interested in dance music, the music business, DJ culture and fashion but also takes in serious topics such as the global Pandemic Feminism and Black Lives Matter with the author speaking candidly, intimately and authentically about the challenges and pitfalls of being a black, creative, female in a male-dominated industry and how she overcame them by adapting to technology, creating lasting relationships and collaborations while continuing to stay relevant and showing great longevity becoming an award winning DJ - still in demand today. This is a story about creativity and survival. Paulette’s narration is passionate, candid and intelligent - delivered with great energy and Mancunian authenticity. I am looking forward to Paulette’s next book where hopefully we can learn more about her formative years, her family, relationships, love - and a bit more about her creative process and personal journey which I am sure will be another fascinating page turner.

  Best Amazon content app

  I think the reason this app is functional and user friendly is due to it being created before the Amazon acquisition (I’m guessing here). The content is well organized and discovery is easy. I’ve started using this app more than the kindle app lately since the redesigned kindle app is trash and is terrible at discovery and NOT user friendly. So I’m still beholden to Amazon but the audible app doesn’t make me want to scream into the void.

  Although the app itself is functional, trying to input your telephone number in order to get a telephone call from “Contact Us” simply causes the app to quit — or is inaccessible altogether. This needs to be fixed ASAP!

  Where did the last 10 hours go?

  I have decided for myself that the only way to read an Elizabeth Gilbert book is to listen to her narrate it. I’ve tried reading her text and it’s like watching a movie in black-and-white in comparison. The author has an amazing way of telling her story, delivering it with perfectly timed intensity, feeling, and inflection. Hearing Rayya’s voice at the end of the narration, singing her sweet song was a bonus! This story comes at a perfect time for me; I am a therapist, and I recently acquired a few new clients struggling with codependency. Peeking into the lives of Elizabeth and Rayya helped me better understand the world in which some people live. I will definitely recommend this book enthusiastically and assuredly. Well done!

  An accurate history of the north American Indians and America.

  A wonderful and honest reflection of our past. It clears up modern misconceptions that women in tea parties would like us to believe and provides brutal and beautiful realities of our past that has forged America into greatness. Forgetting these lessons or worse still is not knowing them, which is collectively a discredit to us all. Wooden shoes on the bloody hill to greatness and silk slippers on the decline into oblivion. The book is compelling, accurate, honest and well written. If you love America and want to know how a great portion arrived here, read this book. I would recommend this book as required literature for all Americans and American students.
