  Worked in China, but uses shady tactics to make cancelling difficult

  NordVPN is an excellent VPN that worked for me in China. However, they hide the ability to cancel your subscription in the app, on their site, and I had to go through Apple subscriptions in the browser to cancel. It was frustrating and difficult and they 100% know what they’re doing and they hope it gets you to keep paying for it. Disappointing honestly!

  Lots of plusses, plenty of features, and it is rated #1 in most of the reliable reviews. But it turns itself off unpredictably until you master its interface. Choose your dedicated IP masking site from a nearby location, or Chrome will think you live somewhere far away. You only get to decide once.

  Very poor customer service

  Not once, but twice, my dedicated IP has been interrupted for no reason at all; the first time the auto renew option was on, and was ignored by their system; the second time I updated the software, and when it restarted, the system thought I had no dedicated IP. After Live Chat with customer support for over an hour last night I was told they could not give me back the same dedicated IP address even though it had been working right before the update, as it had been re-allocated. Not very ‘dedicated’, was it? They insisted that my subscription had expired, even though it was paid through the end of the year, six months from now, and I sent them a screen shot of the account interface that showed this. Then they had the nerve to tell me ‘as a courtesy’ they would add some months to my subscription but they actually shortened it by a month- still insisting it had expired, but their account system made an error. The worst thing about their subscriptions is that if you add features, you can’t add them so that they all renew at the same time — unless you let them all expire and then wait to buy a “package” that will run for the same term for all products. Why not just credit the customer for unused subscription months, and deduct this amount from the ‘package’ price? This is just bad customer service, and bad treatment of customers. When someone actually buys a dedicated IP they are technical reasons for wanting to have the same IP address no matter what your location is, and having the IP re-allocated immediately to someone else, due to an error in NordVPN systems is a serious technical bug, and certainly a violation of the subscription. I am now going to have to multi-factor authenticate again on many devices in many scenarios (some in physical locations on other continents) just to get access again to my own devices and apps. What a waste of time, shame on you NordVPN.
