Description

Create hauntingly beautiful, soul capturing portraits with TinType by Hipstamatic. Inspired by daguerreotypes, tintypes, and other photographic processes from over a hundred years ago, TinType faithfully reproduces these amazing images with stunning accuracy. • Four authentic TinType effects: classic B&W, hand-painted color, high contrast dark B&W, and sepia stained ambrotype • Fully customizable effect controls: tweak the eye intensity, plate grain, and depth-of-field • Supports Portrait Mode (on newer iPhones*), for the most authentic TinTypes ever • Change point of focus while editing (available on images shot in Portrait Mode) • Full frame or square format • Capture images or import from your photo library • Edit right from the Photos app with a photo extension • Nondestructive photo editing – the original is always saved so you can revert back to the camera raw file at any time • Easily share to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and more * Portrait Mode capture available on iPhone X, XS, XR, XS Max for front-facing and rear-facing cameras; also supported on iPhone 7 Plus and 8 Plus for rear-facing cameras

    Sadness

This looks like it might be fun, but I downloaded it on my iPhone 17 Pro and got an error message each time I tried to use it. Since there is no support, I have not been able to figure out why I got an error message and have since deleted the app. Don’t bother.

Crashes every time I try to open a photo from camera roll

It’s a cool effect but I literally can’t apply it to any photo I’ve already taken. Nice to see this app hasn’t had an update in three years. Always read the fine print I guess. 👎👎👎

A fun option for taking photos.

I do like this app. It’s easy to learn, and delivers good results with some nice options. The default small depth of field is awesome! I just discovered you can take any shot from your Apple photo library and tintype it. Cool!

    One of my favs

This is an amazing app and nothing else compares to giving your photos that 1920-1930s look. Please don’t ever remove from the App Store or fail to keep updated!!!! It is so very unique!!!!

    I love it, BUT

I really love this app and have used it for years, but it hasn’t been updated in over 2 years and will not open raw photos, they just crash the app. And it could always have used some additional features or at least the ability to tweak the images. Lots to love, but it seems like an orphan now.

    Focus

As another member asked, it would be nice if we could decide where the focus point is.

  • ★★★★★J_Pearl

    Vintage Art at your fingertips

I love the antique, film plate, TinType look of these. Although you can use them on any subject, portraits look the best.

  • ★★★★★None3622

    RAW support needed

Wish it saved in RAW instead of just jpg.

  • ★★★★★aintnonevermind

    Possible update

I like the app a lot but would very much like to determine where the center point for focus is, instead of it always being dead-center in the frame so that I don’t have to increase the focus diameter to near 0.
